Often we come across boards in restaurants"OPEN"
or 'Now Open'indicating that service is available then. Also ,we come across
boards like 'Plans Open' for advance bookings etc.How do you translate this
into Tamil ?
1)Open- 'திறந்த'
2)Now Open- 'தற்பொழுது திறந்துள்ளது'
3)Plans Open- 'திறந்த திட்டங்கள்'
1 -திறந்த is the 'opposite' of
'physically closed'
Eg- I found the door wide 'open' For this word 'open' Tamil திறந்த would apply and NOT FOR CONVEYING 'BUSINESS IS OPEN'
The right Tamil usage for the occasion would be 'வருக!' for 'Open' in Restaurants etc.
For 'Closed' = 'நாளை வருக !' meaning'Come Tomorrow' which is culturally apt.
2-'தற்பொழுது திறந்துள்ளது' means
' now (doors are)physically open' which , does not convey the message 'Open For Service'
The right Tamil usage ,for this message, again would be 'வருக!' for 'Now Open' in Restaurants etc.'Closed' = 'நாளை வருக !' meaning'Come Tomorrow' which is culturally
correct.'Now' is considered 'redundant here.
3-'திறந்த திட்டங்கள்' does not
make any sense in Tamil.
The right Tamil usage ,would be 'முன் பதிவு ஆரம்பம் 'for this board.
Hope the position is clear for all the 'Translators' Please contact me for any clarification.
Google Translate tool would translate these into Tamil confidently ,as under:
Let us understand clearly that all the fore-going 3 translations DO NOT CONVEY WHAT IT NEEDS TO OR OUGHT TO CONVEY !
Let us see how this is not right and what is the 'right Tamil equivalent'.
This is 'திறந்த கதவு ' ie 'open door'
For 'Closed' = 'நாளை வருக !' meaning'Come Tomorrow' which is culturally apt.
